An elderly gentleman (new patient) presented with a fractured off lateral incisor. The tooth was rootfilled, (poorly) so one rootfilling, fiber post and composite core later, with an e.max A3 LT crown done in two appointments on the same day, and his problem went away.
Patients absolutely love this option.
Pre treatment Xray
Post endo Xray with bonded fiber post and core and a slap on temporary so he could smile at lunch time.
Amazing result, I’ve gotta pick up your DVD and learn how you do this!
Excellent result especially with a LT block!
I find I use more LT than HT, because HT is quite low in value and it is more difficult to raise the value with staining than it is to lower value like I had to do with this one.
Lowering the value in th incisal half let me keep the more natural high value ofnthenLT block around the center and neck areas to match th adjacent teeth.
Wow! the staining is absolutely dead on, Great job!
You have it down! Great service to the patient and staining was perfect. Great pictures.
Graeme, what do you mean when you spoke about lowering and raising the value?
Value is brightness. When you see a PFM, it often looks to bright, the tooth “pops” or stands out in the smile. That is too high a value. Value is more impotant than hue (colour) when you are trying to get a good match on a single crown.
LT tends to be high value (bright) and HT is low value (dull or more grey)
Once you get the hang of staining and glazing, this sort of challenge becomes fun
Wow the staining was perfect! Was the patient thrilled with the same day crown? I know they should have been. E4d is a wonderful asset to have in our office.
