Just wondering how all the new users of the Planmeca Fit doing?   I know the biggest struggle is scanning and capturing the interproximals...   A couple of things to try to get over this confidence curve.   Use the pedo tip and tip it or fishtale the scanner to capture interproximals, mesial and distal.…

Agree completely on using the smaller portrait tip, in fact that's the tip I'll use for almost all my cases, much easier to navigate.  A couple of other tips for getting proximals.  For the mesial proximal contact I'm almost always able to set the scanner on the occlusal of the prep and then raise the…

A comparable study done in the United States reported similarly shocking figures. 45 percent of American respondents said they didn’t visit the dentist regularly because they didn’t feel like it was necessary, Mark Walker dentist. “As a dental professional, that is a fairly alarming statistic and shows how important it is to educate people as…

This is where it's all heading ... Scan bodies will become obsolete in the future. So I scanned a encode healing abutment and sent via DDX to my lab guy. Yes it's true at times it could be difficult to get sub g on the scans. However it is not neccesary to capture that data.…

I love it when I discover a new product that works! Why didn't I invent this SMH! NEW PRODUCT DIRECTA http://youtu.be/l9jnrslFYas Identifying contact points on crowns and bridges has never been easy. Before cementation of conventional crowns, bridges and implant prosthetics, it is necessary to assess the relationship of the crown to the neighboring teeth.…

Oh good idea Mike!  I'm going to try this with my little Schein flossers and if it works I will post it. I agree it is pricey but I'm willing to pay the big bucks for the ease and convenience.

How would you control bleeding or oozing for scanning. I've seen lasering the tissue, packing cord, but still there are times when it's sub g and still oozing regardless of technique. The only thing that seems to work in combination is superoxyl (hydrogen peroxide 35% @ 4 bucks a bottle). Because when you use it…

Although we all love same day crowns, there are times when you have to temporized and seat on another appointment. What is everyone using as a temporary cement? My go to is Telio CS link for a temporary cement. It's not the strongest but patients are only in temps for a few days so it…

Yen,   We typically seal the dentin before scanning and then have had good luck with a separating agent like Vaseline or Bisco's Pro-V coat, followed by Zone NE.  We use Tempbond Clear in the anterior, but because it is resin based, it can REALLY stick to sealed dentin.  How much geometric retention your prep…

This is what my ice view looked on a case I was doing today... I started to scan in pre-op, I was on the wrong tab. So I deleted scan and went to prep scan. Scanned like usual, prep, opposing, then buccal bite. I'm wondering if this happened because I deleted pre-op scan?

So I was playing with Nevo and this is what I got on the buccal bite scan. But when I went to go try and erase it, you don't see it in this view. I even tried erasing where I thought it would be. Interesting Has anyone seen this yet?

Bravo to the doctors for doing their homework prior to integration! This is their first Nevo case done during integration. Scanned by the doctor, designed by Ninja assistant! This is a what I like to see clear margin :)

Will they be adding the green highlight to the ICE view, like they had on the HD version? It really helps to see the edges of the margins...because as clear as the ICE view is...the tooth is white everywhere and it's hard to distinguish the sharp corners where the margins drop to the side.

So here's a discussion from Digital Dentistry, I didn't ask the question but I'm curious about this. I copied the actual post. I'd like to pose a parallel question and see how you all feel about it. Since most states require the dentist to take final impressions, how is a digital scan of a preparation…

I'm hoping as both cad and digital impressioning adoption rates increase the states will better define what's ok and what's not. Right now I think most of the laws were written before any of the digital stuff was happening. Of course a sure way would be to call your state board and get guidance from…

We only use Distilled water in our mill and our mill never gets slimy. Did try going to tap water but couldn't stand the slime buildup and went back to Distilled. Also only using half the amount of coolant then what is recommended. The coolant was starting to stain and breakdown the reservoir tray. I…

That sounds like the way to do it. It'll take some time, I was a bit surprised when I milled my first anterior as to how long it took. If your preps aren't too sharp then the regular burs should be fine. If you see a lot of overmilling especially on the incisal of the…
